PAWTUCKET - Richard D. Parent, 80, of Pawtucket passed away peacefully Thursday, January 14, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Helen (McManus) Parent. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late George and Alice (Quinn) Parent.
A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, Richard was an army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a Pawtucket firefighter for twenty years, serving most of his time on Ladder 2, Cottage Street Station, retiring in 1988. He was a member of IAFF, local 1261, the Pawtucket Firemans Relief Association, Pawtucket Fire Department Historical Society, and the Pawtucket Police and Firefighters Retirees Association.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Steven, Christopher, and Michael Parent, a brother, G. David Parent, and five grandchildren. The funeral and burial will be private. Arrangements by Costigan-O'Neill Funeral Home, Pawtucket. For condolences, www.oneillfuneralhomes.com
