Richard L. Parris

I never met Richard in person, but I communicated with him often via email over the last 12 years. I was greatly impressed by his technical skill, but even more by his dedication to his students and to the mathematics community in general. He was "a scholar and a gentleman" in the fullest sense of both words. I am certain he will be missed by many. I offer my heartfelt condolences to his family.
