I had the privilege of working with Dick on numerous public park projects over the decades, both with Portland Parks and with Metro. I always enjoyed working with him, even when we disagreed! He was a straight-shooter and really cared about the projects we did together. As the public agency representative overseeing his work, I was always happy when Dick was involved in a project - his years of experience and concern about the quality of the work made us all proud.

Uncle Dick was a generous host of all family holiday gatherings when I was growing up. He was always quick with a joke, passionate about football and an example of hard work and enjoying the simple pleasures of life.
