Not sure what to say?

I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn today of Dick's passing. Dick was a compassionate and loyal friend. He was always supportive, generous, and a great listener. We were roommates for three years at the Gamma Frat house on Port Watson St. He loved golf, and I remember when he met Carolyn. He was best man at my wedding to Toby. We spoke on the phone every few months. I'm crying while I'm writing this. I'll see you on the other side, Admiral. Love to your family.

What a loss to the joy in the world, to our neighborhood and to your dear family. Dick was a very special person for so many reasons and will be greatly missed. We feel so blessed to have been a small part of his multifaceted beautiful life and your family.

Dick was one of a kind... Smart, funny, and a great story teller. Prayers to the family and loved ones.

I worked at 62WHEN during the 80s...and we were all happy when Phil Markert returned in 1985-WITH Ron Redneckski. Dick created a wonderfully memorable character beloved by our listeners. Sending my best to his friends and family members, with many thanks for Dick's contributions to a memorable radio station!

All of your friends atRiley´s will miss you and the wonderful memories. T Riley prop

It´s with a sad heart to hear the news of Dicks passing. He was such a beloved force and will be greatly missed by all! Sympathy, condolences and love to Carolyn, MB, Joe and family Nancy and Bob

As we come to this sad place in time, may we find comfort in memories shared. Having Passed over to the Other Side, He is at Peace...and in the presence of his dear parents and beloved Shelly. As well as his boy-hood and life-long friend, Richard (Dick) Updike, with whom he shared so much more than a Name. All Their Spirits live on together.

Having known Dick for 40+ years he will be dearly missed as a friend, community leader and someone who always brought a smile and a hearty laugh to whom ever he met.

Coach, Rest in peace. You can't imagine your influence on the lives of so many people as a person. Your attitude on life shared with so many has made the world a better place.
