I never met Mr. Philbrick but I am grateful for the time he spent running the Compass Rose Bookstore. I spent many happy hours there as a kid.

Our world has lost a special soul, whose fruits we've enjoyed, -- civically, politically, culturally, and affectionately -- for almost a century.
Through Jackie and his lively, diverse family, the love he offered was returned, measure upon measure, pressed down, running over.
