While I came late into Richard's life - my late wife June was his cousin and fellow classmate in the GHS class of '55 - I was immediately impressed with the ease with which Richard could move from the intellectual atmosphere at DHMC, to the hands-on work of the building trades and on to the solitary life of the backwoods outdoorsman, never missing a beat. He was a good friend, a wonderful conversationalist and a true Renaissance man who will be singularly missed.
