Not sure what to say?

It was and is a real pleasure to know and work with Dick Poethig in Southeast Asia. Dick was in the Philippines and my wife served in Thailand. He was a great friend and colleague.

My goodness, how can one human pour forth so much love and pragmatic help in the world in so many places across so many decades? Thank you for sharing some of his life in the obituary. I will treasure the words of the Social Creed (of l908 or 2008;-)--"a vision of a society that shares more and consumes less, seeks compassion over suspicion and eqaulity over domination." I'm honored to be a friend of Kathryn and see how she pursues her Dad's vision. Bless you all as you celebrate his life...

I'm flooded with memories of both Eunice and Dick. One is of Tom and I helping them close up their summer home on the lake in Wisconsin. We had shared happy days with them there, swimming, boating above all conversing. Dear, dear friends whom I miss!

YOU baptized me in 1954 in a tiny chapel in Buffalo, NY...YOU removed a fish hook from my ear lobe as gently as you could on a family vacation in Wisconsin... YOU said the heartfelt words at my father's memorial for your dear friend...and YOU always greeted me with the brightest of smiles. Memories of YOU will always be with me.

Our hearts are filled to overflowing with gratitude at the life and ministry of Dick. His joyful and generous spirit never seemed to waiver, as with his belief in the capacity of all people to do good in the world. For all of his accomplishments, he was ever a down-to-earth, friendly, and curious person who never stopped finding ways to enjoy life. I give thanks for a life well-loved.
