Richard was raised in Buffalo, NY. After his military service in the Vietnam War, he moved to New York City where he worked for 25 years for Atlantic Records. During that time, he also studied music business, marketing, and record industry management at The New School.

Richard lived in his favorite place, New York City, for over 50 years, making lifelong friendships. He was a passionate collector of films, music, memorabilia, and comics. He was also an excellent cook! Many a tasty meal was shared with friends, along with lively conversation.

We give heartfelt thanks to Kenneth Coremans for his loving care, companionship, and support over the last four years.

We will sorely miss Richard's silly grin, infectious laugh, wonderfulmeals, and generosity to all that knew and loved him.

Not sure what to say?

Richard was my oldest cousin. Although I had not seen nor had contact with him in many years, he was a figure who made a vivid and lasting impression during my very young years. He may have been the first one in my world who demonstrated it was okay to grow up and mature while retaining a youthful exuberance and curiosity. I think the world was a better place with Richard in it. God bless you cousin. And God bless all my Porterfield cousins.
