Richard Allen Pryor, son of Rose M. Ingram and the late Richard King, was abruptly called to his eternal rest on Tuesday, June 13, 2017.
Born on March 24, 1952, Richard known as Rick just celebrated the gracious milestone of his 65th birthday this year. In fact he wouldn't stop talking about the best party he's ever had that was given by his daughter in March 2017.
Rick as he was affectionately known to family and friends, received his education through the Philadelphia School System where he graduated from Overbrook High School in 1970. At a young age Rick devoted his life to Christ.
Rick was a man of many talents such as playing the guitar and keyboard, baking desserts, and of course building or fixing anything he touched with his hands giving him the nickname "MacGuyver".
Rick was a great man who devoted his life to his loving and loyal wife of 40 years, Joanne. Together they enjoyed growing together and the role of grandparents; Rick made sure to spend a great deal of his time with his children and grandchildren. He made an exceptional impact on their lives daily.
Although he did not have any siblings, he created close bonds with his in laws who he loved like sisters and brothers of his own.
He will always be remembered for his love of music. Earth Wind and Fire was his favorite. He enjoyed listening to their music while playing along on his keyboard.
Rick's unique personality and humor made him a joy to be around. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him
Rick leaves to rejoice his memory, his wife, Joanne Pryor; his mother, Rose Ingram; 2 sons, Rick Jr. and Khailek; 2 daughters, Ja'mila and Mercedes; 15 grandchildren, Naadirah, Khaliq, Jhasiem, Hanaa, Husain, Je'yiana, Hajjaj, Aatiq, Samaa, Jayla, Hafsah, Muhammad, Farhanah, Jamie, and Ijaz; 1 great granddaughter, Bahar; his mother in law, Minnie Wells; 4 uncles, Robert, Donald, Harry, and Steve (who preceded in death); 3 very close friends Mark, Montrez and Mikey; and a large number of family and friends.
My sincere condolences to the family, sending heartfelt prayers. Rick was a great guy full of many talents, his presence will be miss tremendously.
