Not sure what to say?

I had Mr Pugh for the astronomy and geology elective my senior year. I love telling and retelling Mr. Pugh stories like how he required each student to search for and then bring in a rock specimen which was then presented to him one by one at the beginning of class every Monday. He would immediately and unceremoniously toss most right into the waste basket while identifying them: "basalt, quartz, andesite...". But every so often he'd get one that would conjure his mischievous smile and with...

As a lost student, unsure of my future, he guided me with valuable life skills and showed me the importance of giving back to the community. His incredible tale of surviving a meteorite strike and his dedication to building and hanging bat houses in Oaks Bottom Park will forever be remembered. When asked about my favorite teacher, Mr. Pugh is the only name that comes to mind. His impact on my life will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, dear Mr. Pugh. Your legacy lives on in every life you...

It´s been 44 years but I still think of Mr. Pugh quite a bit. I had him for astronomy, geology and general science before they split the class up. Also went to Fort rock with him at least twice and camp Hamilton (?) at least once plus the Mazama mountaineering class. A fine teacher. I´ve forgotten 99% of what I learned in high school but what I do remember is mostly from Mr. Pugh´s classes. A true inspiration to me and to many others.

Mr. Pugh was one of my two favorite teachers at Cleveland High. He always had belief in me that I could do better. The field trip our class took to Fort Rock is one of my favorite memories of that time.

I met Dick in 1980 when I moved into the northeast neighborhood where he lived his entire life. Dick and his family were not only good neighbors, but great friends for many years.

My favorite teacher at Cleveland HS ever. I was not a wonderful student, but I became a better person and a student because of his tuteladge and interestin my learning. His style was so interactive and fun that I became a huge fan of the sciences and got deeply into horticulture. Later in life, horticulture became my career. I think of him every time I plant a garden or save a tree. I think of him everytime I put up a bird feeder or a home for bats. A truly great man who did huge things in...

My name is Kathy Ericsen. I had Mr. Pugh for freshmen science in 1994! He had a huge impact on me, always supportive and helpful, sarcastic too! I talked a lot in class so he moved me upfront. To me I didn't mind his gruffness as it made me feel at home. Always wanting the best of his students and willing to go to most lengths to help a student understand. Mr pugh also taught my aunt at cleveland I heard many stories that should have have put the fear of God in me, for me I enjoyed our daily...

I had Mr. Pugh as a science teacher in the late '90s and worked closely with him on an independent science course my senior year. He appeared gruff at first meeting, but his humor and curiosity made him one of my favorite teachers. He is fondly remembered.

Mr. Pugh was my teacher at Cleveland High School from 1991 to 1995. I had him for Physical Science, Astronomy, and Geology. He was a teacher that challenged me to learn more, and start doing community service. He would take groups of us down to Oaks Bottom to plant trees. Then my senior year project was on the study of bats and building Bat Houses. Mr. Pugh worked with the Forest Service for us to build and put up bat houses in the Cascade Range Forest. It was an honor to be his...
