Owens and Brumley Funeral Home - Wichita Falls Obituary

Richard Wayne Reber "Wayne", 89, of Burkburnett, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023.

A celebration of Wayne's life will be held at 6:00pm Thursday, May 4th, 2023 in the chapel of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Burkburnett with Pastor Rod Payne, officiating.

Wayne was born on November 4, 1933 in Akron, Ohio to the late Emmett Reber and Glenna Shears.  On March 27, 1962, he married the love of his life, Beverly Carson Cox Reber.  Wayne was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Wichita Falls.  He played football at Stonewall Jackson Sr. High. All three years the team were state champions.  This resulted in Wayne getting a scholarship to Marshall University.  Wayne had a way with everyone he met, making a lasting impression and leaving them laughing.

Wayne retired from PPG after 34 years of service.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  He took joy in his family and always wanted everyone to be happy and healthy.  He was loved deeply by his family including daughers Lorie Heater and Pamela Reber, grandchildren Tara and JP Rivera, and great grandchildren Cooper, Libby, and Rhett Rivera.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in honor of Wayne to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Rd., Wichita Falls, TX 76310 (howf.org)

Prayers. We love y'all BIG!

Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. Remembering you and your loved one today and always.

Prayers for the family. I didn’t know Wayne as well as I knew Bev. I knew they were a loving couple & now they will be reunited. God’s blessings.

Wayne was my brother and friend. His Mother was Glenna Bell Shears of Parkersburg, WV. His Father was Emmett Donald Reber of Akron, Ohio. Wayan and his now deceased younger brother Harold (Duzzy) Reber lived and worked in Charleston WV as Glass Cutters during the 1950's. Both later went to Ohio to work as glass cutters for PPG. Wayne eventually went to Texas as a glass cutter while Duzzy came back to Charleston. WV. Wayne loved his family and was always an immediate friend with everyone ...
