Not sure what to say?

He was a good man and a good professor. He will always be remembered.

Dear Judy, Wes, Virginia, I'm going to miss him. I always felt I could turn to him with questions and trust him to tell me if I was messing up. He helped Madville get a start, and for that we will be forever grateful.

Truthfully, I did not really know the man. During 2021 and 2022 I interviewed him by email and got to know about his past, his attitudes towards the world and family, and his amazing intellect. He was a one-of-a-kind in every respect. I think Texas still does not realize how much he contributed to our culture. I wrote up a little literary appreciation of Clay Reynolds as an author...

Judy, We are thinking of you. We are thinking about the good times. We are so sad. Lynn and Dave

Judy, Wes, Virginia - I don't have the words but I'll try. Your husband / dad was a one-of-a-kind, they don't make that model any more. I will always cherish the road trips with Clay driving me and Wes to ball games or camps... the long discussions about the virtues of various musical genres, the quintessential cigar hanging out of his mouth... the intellectual challenges thrown out for discussion. Clay was truly a one-of-a-kind. I loved that man and I can only imagine how much you loved...

Clay and I were hired the same year at Lamar (1978). My condolences to Judy and the rest of the family.

Clay was a good friend, a mentor, and an extraordinary teacher and writer. He brightened our days with his witty correspondence and encouraged us during difficult times with his wise advice and sincere concern. We are shocked and saddened by the news of his passing. Our heartfelt condolences to his family.

Clay was a great person to work with. He was always warm and encouraging. He made it a point to thank everyone who worked an event after a creative writing lecture. May his memory be a blessing.

Please accept our sincere condolences for your loss. Clay and Bill shared a love of good writing and spent many hours discussing books, authors and the business of books.
