Ritter, Richard A. 'Dick'

Richard A. 'Dick' Ritter, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2021. Loving husband of Carol, nee Beth; brother of Marlene Psenka; father of Mary Trille, Rick, Anne Cappuccitti and Bill; grandfather of Delaney, Carly, Emma, CC, Katie, and Bob; preceded in death by his parents Elaine and Albert.

Dick retired as Vice-President of the Catholic Church Extension Society, and was awarded the Knight Commander's Cross of the Order of Saint Gregory the Great, the highest recognition bestowed on a lay person by the Catholic Church, for his work with Catholic missions in the United States and Puerto Rico. He had great passion for his career and those he worked with. Dick and Carol lived in Elmwood Park for almost sixty years, amongst a community and neighbors they love. Dick was also a die-hard Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs, and Bears fan, though he had to take a long break from the Blackhawks when they stopped broadcasting the road games on free tv. He was a baseball coach, softball coach, bowling coach, and fishing (trolling) expert. Take it easy, Dad.

Lying in State, Friday, September 10, 2021 from 9 a.m. until time of Mass, 10 a.m., at St. Celestine Church 3020 N. 76th Court, Elmwood Park, IL. Interment All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Richard's name to Catholic Extension would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to The Elms Funeral Home, 708-453-1234 or

Our deepest condolences

Bruno Strapko and Rachel Battaglia

Rick, Delaney, Bob and the whole Ritter family, my deepest condolences. I am very sorry for your loss. The ones we love are never gone; they live within our hearts.

Our love and prayers go out to the Ritter family. We are so sorry for your loss. Fond memories of Mr. Ritter - his love of sports, his great sense of humor, and his finches.

Mrs. Ritter and family very sorry in hearing about Rich.

I am so sorry for you loss. I remember Mr. Ritter putting up with so much from us when we were kids. He was a kind and loving man. He dearly loved his family and they loved him. Once again I sorry.

We are all saddened by the news of Richard’s passing. We will always look back at our times as extended members of The Ritter and Psenka families with fond memories. The many birthdays, holidays, and vacations we spent together were some of the most enjoyable days of our lives. We will miss you, Uncle Dick, and will always think of you enjoying one of your favorite activities: Trolling in Long Lake for Northern Pike from the back of an old beat up Sliz-Reel-Em-Inn motor boat, and smoking a...

All my love to the Ritter family. I have so many fond memories of your dad! Always the first to help and to join in any fun, especially the notorious 3rd of July parties on 76th Ct. I hope he's in heaven enjoying a Green River while watching a Cubs game. (They need the help this year!)
