Dick gave me my first job out of A&M in 1970 that I thought was a temporary situation and it lasted almost 18 years. He was a great teacher and a good guy to just be around. I have not seen Dick for years, but I know he will be missed. My condolences to Virginia and the girls.

Dick was the best man and teacher I ever knew. He had an answer for everything. Always followed with a great story for support.
He will be missed.

Dick will be long remembered and greatly appreciated in the Old Sixth Ward as a visionary who not only saw the value of historic preservation, but also acted on that vision in many different ways including buying and restoring historic structures, speaking publicly, and opening his home and office to countless community gatherings. He and Ginny graciously hosted the great celebration following City Council's vote to make the Old Sixth Ward the city's first protected historic district. Dick...

Dick- you touched a lot of lives and inspired many along the way. I'm glad I shared a part of your journey. I really enjoyed working at RRA.

Dick embodied the 20th Century "can do" spirit, an inventor with a tactile intuition for creating something with his craftsman's hands. Funny with a distaste for pretension, he was a great guy to sit down and share a drink. I will raise a glass of scotch to the passing of a unique soul.
