Richard Shoichi "Dick" Sakurai

I left Shimer about the time Dick arrived. I didn't know him until I read on Shimer's facebook page that he lived in Portland. I lived in NE Portland at the time, and went to visit him. It was in December several years ago. I remember I took him a plate of Christmas cookies. He thanked me and placed the plate on the dining table where there were about ten other plates of cookies! I´m so sorry for your loss. My dad passed away a few years ago. My dad was biracial and swept the floors of St. Mary´s school with a young Japanese American man. He was also working his way through college. I just couldn´t help but wonder if this was your dad. His story sounds so familiar. They had a great time sweeping those floors and better yet they both succeeded. Your dad sounded truly amazing!!
