Not sure what to say?

Mr. Saunders was my Chemistry teacher, and despite my lack of enthusiasm he tried very hard to get me to learn. Even with the difficult years he had faced, this is a sad loss to those who knew him. Amy Garvin Rodgers

I grew up in Auburn and was in the same grades with Dick and his twin brother Phil all the way through public school and during our time at Auburn University. I've never known a greater family than the Saunders and I pray for them in this time of loss. Dick was a great person and he will be missed.

Mr. Saunders was my chemistry and physics teacher and I always looked forward to his classes. He was such a good teacher and very intelligent. I am sad to hear of his passing and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Saunders' family and friends. I was a student of his at Maclay, and he always struck me as a person who tried hard to help his students learn and who wanted to foster school spirit- in my opinion, two great attributes for a teacher. I hope he passed away knowing that helped many students to grow in their knowledge and caring for others.

Even though Mr. Saunders won't be remembered for his teaching ability, he was an excellent high school teacher. As a chemistry and physics teacher he faced the daunting task of having to teach teenagers two of the most boring and hated subjects in high school. I was a student of Mr. Saunders at Maclay for 4 years. I am very sad to hear of his passing. Even in the midst of a very difficult time for him the last few years, I have been so proud how the teachers of Maclay have stood by their dear friend. To me, that speaks volumes about him and how respected he was by his peers. May God richly bless his family and friends.

My prayers are with Richard's family and closest friends. Richard was always a good friend to me and we loved to talk about Auburn football and Auburn life. I will pray for his eternal soul, Dianne
