I can recall the way he introduced Snowy to me, my fear of his white fluffy dog was instantly gone. He and my mom (a former co-worker) remained friends and in contact until she made her transition. Dr. Scaine was my favorite teacher at Seton Hall Prep (astronomy / environmental science) and main influence to pursue engineering and work in the space industry. I'm very lucky that we crossed paths. Thank you for everything Dr Scaine. (class of '96)

Doc Scaine was truly a phenomenal teacher. Patient, kind and so very caring for all he taught. I was lucky to be taught by someone who made his students really think. I am so appreciative of having learned from him. Rest easy doc.

Mr. Dick Scaine will be missed for his supreme intelligence, but mostly for his compassion, for all people, but especially his students and colleagues, of which I am lucky enough to have been both. Condolences to his family for their loss of a great man.

Not a person like him in the world. Selfless, caring, and gentle. Such a good teacher that he inspired me to become a biology teacher. I can never be as good as him, but through his inspiration, I will surely try.
