Rich and I were Peace Corps volunteers in Lawas, Sarawak, Malasia in 1967-1968. We had a wonderful time at the Lawas School where we taught school to the first class of Lun Bawang students from the interior of Borneo as well as Malays and Chinese students. We were also on the local basketball team and won games against teams from much larger towns. He was a great guy.

Rich was an iconic educator, and a big advocate for foreign students. He was fearless and very good at speaking "truth to power" - He helped mentor me as a young business school dean at Whitworth. I miss him. - Dr. Kyle Usrey

We both served in the Peace Corps in different countries following graduation. We loved playing tennis together, and shared many other memorable...

Miss you, dad. There's so much I'd like to say, but the only words not escaping me are "I love you." I love you forever.
