Richard Lee Schiller, age 86, of Hobart passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 22, 1931 in Sidney, Nebraska to the late Godfred Ludwich and Agnes Anne (nee Marx) Schiller. Richard was a retired Local 460 Union Painter. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. On August 29, 1952 Richard married the love of his life Barbara Drake in Sidney, Nebraska. He will be remembered as a loving, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.


Richard is survived by his loving wife of 65 yrs., Barbara Schiller of Hobart; six children, Vicki (Danny) Crawford of Valparaiso, Steve (Denise) Schiller of Kouts, Michael Schiller of Norris City, Illinois, Roger (Donna) Schiller of Michigan City, Janine Schiller of Hobart and Phillip (Glinda) Schiller of Portage; 24 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; special friends Vicky Baker and Liz Batz and many other loving family members and friends.


Richard was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 1, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home,600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342.
