If an obituary could be sung, our father, Richard A Scott (Scotty), would have preferred a tune in his honor. The chorus would sing of love of family, love of life, love of country. Scotty was the father to 9 children; Stacie, Richard, Binh, Matt, Christine (Beard), Ruth (Portonova), Joan,...

Not sure what to say?

My sympathy to all of the Scotts. I remember Aunt Ruth and Uncle Scotty and Jack and Dick so well from my childhood. We spent every Christmas and Thanksgiving with them in Rockland or in East Douglas. It was always fun.

And Ruth always stayed with us in Onset for a week or two. She was such good company and had a wonderful laugh and sense of humor. My mother adored her.

Peter and Dick

Will miss you Dick. One of my most favorite relatives for over 75 years, the best athlete in the history of Bates College, and the paradigm for a loving father.

We are at a loss for words. We know there is nothing for us to say that will make your loss easier but know that We are sending you our love, friendship and support. We love you all of you..always .. Your dad is now with God; God bless him. . Cyndi. Rafa, Alexa and Nico

Dick was a wonderful man to work for. He treated everyone with respect , dignity and kindness. He had a fabulous sense of humor, a deep love of his friends and family and great compassion for others. He took a sincere interest in the lives of those he knew. We will miss him and cherish his memory always . Sending our sincere sympathies to all of his family.

Dearest Scott family ~ We are sending you all our love and wishing you all the fondest memories of your wonderful Dad. We will keep you in our prayers.

As a friend of Joans at Villanova, and far from my own Chicago-based family, the Scotts continuously welcomed me into their warm and wonderful home. I felt so lucky then; as I do today, to know and love this incredible family. Will sorely miss its Patriarch.

The Donnelly Family extends their sympathy and prayers to the Scott Family. All 12 Donnellys who worked at MM&D over the years were so happy to have had the opportunity to know Mr. Scott. We loved hearing him come whistling through the office, and enjoyed it when he'd stop and talk with us. He knew all our names, and the names of every one of the employees who worked for him, even as the company grew. He was a wonderful man, and he'll truly be missed.

Greater Glory Basket

I remember that Dick understood and saw the value in people of a wide variety of characters and persuasions - even me, when I was a brash, shaggy-haired new actuary back in 1976.
