Richard David Shea Sr.

It was a privilege and a blessing to know Grandpa Shea. He was always so happy and fun to be around. He loves his kids, grandkids and great grandchildren so much! I look to him as a grandpa myself, since I married into the family and my own grandparents have all passed away. He accepted me as a grandson and I felt his love for me. He loved my son Tatertot and was always so excited when he came around. Grandpa could light up a room, I am sure he is a bright light in heaven.

As a child, I spent virtually every Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve at Uncle Dick and Aunt Nonnie's. It was an opportunity to visit with my cousins and relatives from out of town, the house bustling with activity and filled with the aroma of cooking. I will always remember those times with great nostalgia. Their home, and the times spent there, shaped my sense of family. I rememebr them often and fondly, and I am forever grateful. I love you Uncle Dick.

My sincere sympathies to the Shea family for the loss of their father, a respected pillar in his community and church that will leave an obvious void. I never got to know "Uncle Dick" as well as I would have liked over the years, but I was a Navy brat and traveled all my young life, and only managed to return to Utah for short visits, mostly during the holidays. In later years I was pleased that my mother and I were able to help Dick and Nondus purchase their present home. I will remember...

I knew him best as Grandpa, I loved and felt him as mentor, father figure, and person I most wanted to grow up to be like. As much as I miss his tender voice, calling me his "Tony Bear" at the age of 43. I know I will see him together with his precious nondus by his side, greeting me with the same warm smiles in the celestial kingdom where I know he is as he was the most perfect man I have ever had the wonderful life to share time with.

I knew Lt Col Shea at the Utah ANG when he was head of Supply. He was a true officer and a gentleman and I enjoyed talking to him, sometimes being in the same meetings and so on. He had a full life, contributed much to all those around him in the various places where he served.

In my youth Dick Shea was like a second father to me and provided much-needed counsel and opportunities which enabled me to grow and succeed in life. Later, he became a good friend, even a brother to me. Both Carol and I were very sad to hear of his passing and the entire Shea family has our deepest sympathies.

I am so sorry for your loss. I can understand how you feel, as I just lost my mom. I loved working with your dad at the Bishops Storehouse. He was such a kind, friendly, and gentle person that would have done anything to help anyone. My thoughts and prayers are with you at such a difficult time.

I knew Brother and Sister Shea while living in the Eagle Gate 2nd Ward. They were both an example to me - I learned much from them. I used to enjoy talking to Brother Shea. I was blessed to have known them both.
