Not sure what to say?

Dick as a Young Naval Aviator serving with VAW-111, aboard USS Ticonderoga, Vietnam, 1967-68

Dick was my inspiration in becoming a military aviator. In the summer of 1968, I was a 6 year old kid playing on our block in Park Ridge when I saw Dick, home on leave, wearing his summer whites, his ribbons and Naval Aviator Wings (and a pretty blonde lady by his side, his future wife). I was awe struck. I knew right then and there that I wanted to be a military pilot. While attending Maine South, I interviewed Dick on his experiences during the Vietnam War. It was a great conversation...

Dick was someone I much liked and admired throughout my FAA career. I enjoyed running in to him at the office after he retired and he would come in to mediate a dispute. He must have admired at least my haircut, because he started using my barber, where I saw him not long ago. He was a great conversationalist and he will be truly missed at FAA retiree lunches. But, as Kim said, we will meet again. God bless him, his fine family, and all his friends.

I am sadden by Dick's passing. All of us at FAA who knew & worked with him, liked & respect him as the fine person he was. Dick was liked by all. He was a great family man. When he spoke of their skiing vacations, Dick was all smiles. His work ethic was above reproach. . . a man of highest integrity. He always had a warm greeting for me. May God bless him and grant his wife and family the knowledge that Dick's continued love and support will always be with them.
Tony Belmonte, FAA.

I worked with Dick for many years at the FAA, most memorably in Labor Relations during the air traffic controllers strike and appeal process in the early 1980's. He was a great teacher, role model, and leader; full of ethics and social responsibility. God gets a good one. Until we meet again in heaven, may our great God bless his family and friends. Kim (Wright) Davis

The best of the best, he will be dearly missed!

He was my big brother, always a part of my life. I will miss him dearly. George
