Judy, Thinking of you today on the anniversary of Rich´s passing. Cousin Bern

He was my first Lieutenant when I cleared probation . I worked for him on the night watch at the old Northern Station. He was hugely fair and helped guide me and my partner through some minefields and was always supportive of us. He had a good sense of humor--and even brought that into the occasional corrections he had to send our way. He was a super bright guy--climbing to the highest ranks in the SFPD, but he had heart and took care of his troops. A decent man, and terrific boss.

Shippy, my family and I will miss you dearly. You're considered an uncle to my three daughters and son-in-laws. We'll miss your sense of humor, sitting in the yard with your dog and referring to my daughters as the "Rambo-ettes". I'll miss our hunting together and debating whose dog was better hunter. Most of all we'll miss your friendship.

Judy and Nancy and Family Thinking of you today and praying for Rich. Tom and Mary Lou De Natale

I worked for Rich at Northern Station and we remained lifelong friends. Rest in peace, my old friend. I'm going to miss the time we spent together, lots of laughs and good times.

Rich, may you rest in peace. You will be missed dearly. I appreciate the great times and the friendship you shared. But most of all the awesome nickname of the day for me.Thank you .Pete Balestrieri.( Popper )

Commander Rich Shippy was one of the best bosses I´ve ever had in the SFPD. He was a great police officer, mentor, but most importantly, a great friend. He served the citizens of San Francisco well keeping them safe throughout his career. He´ll be sorely missed, but most importantly Always remembered !!!

Great friend, boss, roommate, and mentor. I am out of the country and will miss the remembrance for him. Very sad, he will be missed.

Judy ... Dimitri and I send our condolences to you and the family. May Rich rest in Paradise.
