Richard was born on June 15, 1958, to Richard Sr and Elda (Borchert) Stahl in Iowa City. He attended West Central School in Maynard, Iowa. In 1973, the family moved to Grinnell. Richard liked to watch several TV shows, Walker Texas Ranger, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Cops, game shows and westerns. You could find him playing Farkle with his friends at the Club House Station. He enjoyed the walks and trips with friends at CIRSI. When Richard and his sisters would go to West Side Family Restaurant, he always ordered the Hot Beef Sandwich.

Richard will be remembered by his sisters, Kathryn Morrison, Mary Allison and Alice Anderson, all of Grinnell; 10 nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; and many close friends. He will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, JoAnn Sadler, Thelma and Sheila Stahl (both in infancy); and his brother; Rickie Stahl.

Not sure what to say?

So sorry to hear. We are classmates, neighbors and friends of his sisters. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. May he rest in peace.

Richard's family, sorry for your loss. didn't know Richard that well he came over to my neighbor hood to visit my neighbor and would say hello to me.
Knew his mother and some of his sisters.

He always had good sense of humor, both of us cracking jokes about the day standing in front of apartment building. Good neighbor and be will be missed.

This is my favorite picture of Richard. He always had a smile and a positive attitude that made a bad day good. He will be missed greatly.

So many memories of “Uncle” first would have to be him always saying “yeahbadough” then Granny yelling about how he was always tinkering with things, his Farrah Fawcett poster, and playing Elvira on his record player.
He was always happy to see the kids especially in their Halloween costumes and boy did they feel special when a card came in the mail from him. If they saw him walking somewhere they’d always holler for me to stop and take him wherever he was headed even if it meant they...

Although I did not know Richard long, I will miss him dearly. Richard was a very kind and silly man. I will miss playing farkle with him and serving lunch to him at Connections Station Clubhouse. Rest in heaven buddy!

Richard was “one of a kind”! He was always pleasant & friendly to everyone. He had a great sense of humor & every now and then I’d have to “bop” him on his head to keep him in line. Richard will be sorely missed by his many friends at Clubhouse. Fly high, Richard!!
