My sympathies for your loss.
I did not know him but resonated with his Trivial Pursuit passion. My late best friend, Jack Laffan, and I had contests going into the wee hours.
I lost to him one time, after hours of playing, on the question, "What is the color of yak milk?"
The correct answer is "pink." (There is a bit of blood in it.)
If Richard did not know that answer before, he does now.
