Steffen, Richard Vernon Of Brookfield. Passed away Monday, March 19, 2007 at Ruth Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 79. Born November 26, 1927 in Appleton, Dick attended Abbotsford schools until his junior year when he moved to Medford and started in radio at WIGM. At the age of sixteen, he worked as a first class engineer and continued on in radio and television well into his fifties. He was a pioneer and entrepreneur in the industry, having done everything from owning and operating the first stereo radio station in Milwaukee, WMKE, to starting one of the first cable television companies in the nation, RVS Cablevision, located in Brookfield. In more recent years Dick sold real estate with Bielinski Custom Homes until ill health caused him to retire. Dick is preceded in death by parents Vernon and Agnes Steffen, and first wife Lois. He is survived by beloved wife Irene, and brothers James (Rowene) and William (Jane). He is lovingly remembered by many close family members. Visitation at St. Mary's Visitation Parish (1260 Church Street), Elm Grove on Saturday, March 24 from 12 Noon until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 1 PM. Graveside Services to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Elm Grove. Special thanks to Ruth Hospice for their care and compassion towards Dick. Memorials to Ruth Hospice are appreciated. Not sure what to say?

Irene: I am so sad to just now learn that Dick is no longer with us. I worked with Dick for many years at Bielinski and he was my friend and mentor. You could not find a nicer man, a genuine top producer and I will miss him. My prayers and best wishes go out to you.
