Stem, look at how many lives you've touched! I'll always remember you in chorus at LHS, bounding down the stairs with a joke, a wink, and a smile that lit up the room. You had an unparalleled ability to cheer up those who needed it the most, and you showed us all by example how to be a better human being. You will be greatly missed.

I echo the words of Thom; "Dick was a huge influence on me during my years at Lawrence High. His vocal instruction helped prepare me for my university training and my eventual career."

Stem was a coach, a friend, a true teacher of knowledge, and cheerleader. He made a huge impact on so many serious students and friends. Forever in my thoughts and in my heart, I'll miss you Stem. The world is a much lonelier place without you. -Dave Horch

Dear Mrs. Stemhagen, Amy and Kurt, I knew "Stem" while at Lawrence High School from 1970-73. He was my music teacher, choral/madrigal director, and friend, and a very nice person who was always there for anyone who needed him. I remember when he brought his kids to school and there is even a photo of me with Amy in one of the yearbooks. I was very sorry to hear of his passing and want you to know that my thoughts are with you all. Cathy (Wojtowicz) Terroni, Yardley, PA

Dick was a huge influence on me during my years at Lawrence High. His vocal instruction helped prepare me for my university training and my eventual career. He was a fine teacher and a good guy.

My sympathies to his family. He has a very special place n my heart.

Dear Mrs. Stemhagen & family,
I met Mr. Stemhagen when I was a studen a Reynold Jr. High School from 1967-1969. He was one of the kindness and nicest Men you could meet. He made every student feel important. I feel very honored to have been one of his students. I ran into him at the Acme a month ago, and was happy that he remembered me. I was very sad to hear about his passing. I am sorry that I couldn't make his service to Honor a "Very Special Man" who will be truly missed. My...

One of the nicest "gentlemen" I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. All four years at LHS he was a man that the Madrigal chorus respected and loved. A very gentle man with a very large heart. He will be missed but remembered by everyone that ever was taught by him. Thank You. Carol Schierbaum for Kristin Schierbaum (Milewski)

Dear Ginny and family,
I taught with Dick at Reynolds for the first 8 years it was open. I also had the pleasusre of singing "for him" at Hamilton Square Baptist Church. My memories are fond. These tributes from former students say it all. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. Treasure your memories and share your stories with the little ones coming up!

Ginny,

You have my deepest sympathy on the loss of Richard. I remember seeing both of you at our 50th high school reunion in 2008. Dick and I go way back - to singing together in the choir at Cadwalader Heights Methodist Church. He was always such a friendly -fun loving person. May your many pleasant memories bring you comfort.
