Not sure what to say?

February 23, 2016

Dear Stone family,
I was stunned just a few days ago as I received and read the March/April/May 2016 edition of the HealthyLiving publication from Eisenhower Medical Center to see Dr. Richard Stone "In Memoriam". I am grateful I was able to locate his obituary and have this opportunity to express a few thoughts in the "Guest Book".

We moved to the Desert in July 2001 and my beautiful wife was experiencing some very troublesome and erratic issues with...

Suzanne and Family, My deepest condolences. May God bless each and everyone of you and find peace in your time for hurt.

It is with profound sadness that I say goodbye to my fond colleague and friend, Dick Stone. Fortunately, I was able to attend the beautiful memorial service and reach out to console Suzanne and the beautiful children I brought into the world, Chelsea and Jordan. Dick was not only extremely bright; he was also an extremely compassionate physician. But most of all, I miss our conversations and disagreements concerning the Redsox and the Dodgers. My wife, Jan and the Gurwitt gang who were in San...

It is with deep sadness that my husband and I learned of Dr. Stones passing. We too worked with Dick at Eisenhower for many years and also enjoyed playing tennis together in the 80's.

Dr. Stone was a brilliant physician and a man with a sense of humor. I remember taking care of him one day on the SCU unit after he'd had an angiogram. He didn't like to stay in one place to long, which is what he was instructed to do for safety reasons; rather he was up out of bed with the breeze...

I will always remember and miss the gum chewing, tan skin, tennis shorts, Miami Vice red leather shoes, white coat, daily CBC & A-8 orders, and his constant grumble; a feeble attempt to keep people away when in reality he was a teddy bear. My deepest sympathy to his family and especially to Tanya - I am so sorry for your loss.

We send our thoughts and prayers to Dick's family and colleagues at Eisenhower Medical Center. I worked with Dr Stone in the oncology division from 1989 to 1998. He was brilliant, caring and a joy to have care for our patients. I will always remember his colorful poloshirts and wonderful humor. I remember him with great respect and admiration.

Dr.Stone and I both entered this world in the same year and came to the desert at approximately the same time. Thus, we are of the same generation and matured together in our respective professions.I fortunately got to know Dr. Stone as a friend as well as the best personal physician I could ever hope for. Not very long ago we somehow got into a discussion about death. He said he was reminded of what the Dean of his medical school told first year students on the first day of class....

He was my doctor and my advocate, always on my side. My husband is also a Boston Red Sox fan and he did not appreciate me coming to an appointment without my husband so they could talk "Boston." Sorely missed.

Dr. Stone was my mother's doctor and he always made my mother and our family feel very special. We deeply appreciated the care he gave to my mother and the scoldings he would give us, when he would see us eating not so healthy foods. Loved him dearly. My deepest condolences to his family and friends who loved and admired him. Blessings to you Dr. Stone.
