To the Family of "Swiftie",
Dick was a very special man. We have had the pleasure of knowing him just a short 15 years. We knew him mostly as a student of the Civil War, a dedicated leader and a chaplain, leading his flock. But Dick was so much more. He was a spiritual and compassionate man. He enjoyed teaching, educating and guiding - be it with his fellow pards in the Hemlocks, the soldiers in the State Guard or the young students in his classes. EVERYONE admired and thought...

Sorry to hear of the death of Dick. He was such a character...had so many talents. Barre Town will not be the same without him and his sense of humor. Rest in Peace and may God bless the family.

Dear Sarah, Pete, Candace and Mabel:
I was deeply saddened to learn of Dick's passing. He was always such a joy to know and I cannot possibly add very much to the wonderful conversation about how special he was! He was the person that everyone is encouraged to be; kind, respectful, caring, and a little bit of humor. My goal is to remember his good thoughts and wisdom, practice them, and have him live on. ...

Growing up in the same neighborhood as the Swifts, I know firsthand how great Dick and Mabel were. All the kids used to love "mr. Swift". My condolences go out to Mabel and the kids and just know that we'll all be together again soon. God Bless.
