Not sure what to say?

I always remember Dick when we go to the Labor Day Parade in Northfield and see our friends who are members of the Hemlock Group.

To the Family of "Swiftie",

Dick was a very special man. We have had the pleasure of knowing him just a short 15 years. We knew him mostly as a student of the Civil War, a dedicated leader and a chaplain, leading his flock. But Dick was so much more. He was a spiritual and compassionate man. He enjoyed teaching, educating and guiding - be it with his fellow pards in the Hemlocks, the soldiers in the State Guard or the young students in his classes. EVERYONE admired and thought...

My prayers are with your family.....I remember enjoying many sing alongs with Marty N & Dick at the Saturday Night Meeting.

Sorry to hear of the death of Dick. He was such a character...had so many talents. Barre Town will not be the same without him and his sense of humor. Rest in Peace and may God bless the family.

Dear Sarah, Pete, Candace and Mabel:
I was deeply saddened to learn of Dick's passing. He was always such a joy to know and I cannot possibly add very much to the wonderful conversation about how special he was! I hadn't seen him in recent years but I know that if I had he would have treated me as though no time had passed. He would be very pleased to learn that my sister Jackie and I have been researching our roots, which includes the whole gamut of the Farnham Family, of which he was...

I grew up in a Big family with lots of siblings and lots of cousins!!! Uncle Dick was everyone's favorite Uncle....he was Santa every year, would always wish me a Happy Birthday (mine is the day after Aunt Mabel's and 3 days before his), tell jokes, and say something that left a good feeling. He was the person that everyone is encouraged to be; kind, respectful, caring, and a little bit of humor. My goal is to remember his good thoughts and wisdom, practice them, and have him live on. ...

GREAT GUY HE SURE WAS, HONEST, AND WITH A BIG HEART, SURE GOING TO MISS SEEING YOU DICK, YOU CAN STAND AT EASE, SARGENT SWIFT, GOD BLESS

Candace, Josh, Holly.........
All I can say is that I am thinking of you and love you lots.

Growing up in the same neighborhood as the Swifts, I know firsthand how great Dick and Mabel were. All the kids used to love "mr. Swift". My condolences go out to Mabel and the kids and just know that we'll all be together again soon. God Bless.
