Not sure what to say?

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

It was with great sadness that my wife Jean and I learned of the passing of Dick. Richard Tenzel was an ophthalmologist’s ophthalmologist. He was my friend and colleague; we were residents together and our wives often spent time together at meetings. I will miss him as a friend and colleague. Our profession has lost a giant.
David B. Soll, M.D.

I first met Dr. Tenzel in 1961 where he examined my 3 1/2 year old brain injured son on the outside front steps of my apartment.

That day Dr. Tenzel was so kind and gentle with Jeffrey, my husband and myself and for as long as Jeffrey was his patient. I will always remember.

Sincerest condolences to the family,

Betty & (son) Jeffrey Nault

Sincere Condolences to Dick's family from his past "family" at Manhattan Eye and Ear Hospital He was a treasured graduate of the Program and a loyal past Fellow of Dr. Byron Smith's. Dick was a National Treasure in our field and truly one of a kind.He never missed an opportunity to show his respect towards and gratitude for his mentor, Dr. Smith and Manhattan Eye and Ear. We are truly sorry to learn of his passing and our thoughts and prayers are with the Tenzel family with this great loss.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Dick and Shirley . May they be together in peace. Part of my fellowship training (1973) was spent in Miami as part of the Tenzel "family", when he and Shirley welcomed my wife, Doris, and me into their life. Dick was a superb "one on one" teacher and I will be forever indebted to him for his guidance. I am so pleased that at least I gave him a call a few years ago on New Years's to say "hi" a last time and thank him for his gifts to me. Arthur Grove...

My sincere condolences to Dr. David Tenzel and the entire family. I know you will always have him in your hearts.

Please accept my condolences. Dr. Tenzel was one of the "giants" in Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery when I first entered the field in 1981. His wisdom, knowledge and friendship will be treasured by generations.

In memory of Dick Tenzel, M.D. --
My heart is open to Dick's family at this time of sadness and transition. As one of Dick's early fellows at the BPEI (1976-77), Dick had a tremendous impact on my surgical career. He was a superb surgeon with a curious and creative mind. What I learned in the operating room and in conversations over lunch at Cy's Diner has informed my life professionally and personally. Dick is someone who earned his place in the "winner's circle".
With respect and...

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.
