Richard R. Trainer

Dr. Trainer was my eye doctor for nearly 20 years in La Jolla. I enjoyed my time with him very much; he was a wonderful doctor and person. I am very sorry for his passing. Anna

RIP Rich I worked for Chase & Trainer in the early 70´s putting my husband through Law School. We were like a little work family. Betty Mary, Gloria, & Rich we all became life long friends. We had so much fun with our sense of humors playing many practical jokes on each other. Sadly, I moved to LA in 1974, but returned to SD in the early 80´s & back to Dr. T´s. I worked at Chase and Trainer on Girard in the 60´s and early 70´s . I´ve never known a kinder, gentler, more interesting man than Dr. Trainer. On Fridays, we had wine and cheese and laughter and music after closing. I visited with him some 40 years later...always a joy! Rest in well earned peace.

Thank you for posting Richard´s obituary in the La Jolla Light newspaper. My mother was Richard´s bookkeeper for many years. We all thought very highly of him. Many Sunday mornings would find Richard at my parents´ house for coffee. He and Susan were dear friends. My condolences to the family.

Rick was my optometrist for over 40 years, with occasional lunch meetings and a few afternoons at San Diego Charger practices. We had an ongoing good-natured back and forth about the USC Trojans and the Notre Dame (my alma mater) Fighting Irish. He was a dedicated professional and an all-around good guy. He deserves to be remembered fondly, and I thank his nephews and grandniece for memorializing him.
