It is always a shock to hear of the loss of a long time shipmate and friend. We send our deepest sympathy to Leola and family and send hopes that some time we will meet Dick again, at the final home port, to renew the memories of when we were together on Guam, Philippines and Winter Harbor.

My sincere condolences to the family. I was stationed at Winter Harbor 3 times after Dick started working there and I also worked there for almost 6 years in civil service before it closed this year. Dick always had a smile, laugh or something good to say to lift your spirits. Someone you always loved to see coming on base or around town. Great Man!!
