Not sure what to say?

I KNEW FR VAN FOR A NUMBER OF
YEARS. HE WAS A VERY KIND AND
WARM PERSON AND PRIEST! MAY HE
REST IN PEACE!

We were sorry to hear of Fr. Van's Passing. We are members of St.Joseph
Church Alger, Mi. I was secretary while he served at the Mass in our church it was a pleasure to work with him.

Fr Van's Parents were my Godparents so we spent many occasions together over the years. I alway thought he was my cousin. He was a good cook. I know his last years spent were not the greatest for him so he is now at Peace with his family. Carol

Father Van was assigned to Holy Trinity Church when I first met him. I was a young high school kid who shared many wonderful experiences with him. We spent time on trips, fishing at Houghton Lake and had numerous outings with Fr Van and other priests from all over the state of Michigan. I truly enjoyed his friendship, companionship and leadership. I could always count on Fr to guide and direct me down the right road. I will miss him and think of him often in my prayers. All of us are...

I was another former student at the Seminary, and at St. Stephen's - one who was much influenced by his way of life. May he rest in peace.

Dear Richard. We went through a lot the last few years and became best friends as well as cousins. I am glad you are now at peace with your Mom and Dad and brother. Love and prayers, Cousin Joanne

I was one of Fr. Van's students at St. Paul Seminary from 1966 thru 1970. I'm sure few people remember me, but I remember Fr. Van. The learning environment and faith formation you provided (Fr. Van) helped make me who I am today. I have been blessed with a happy life with wide ranging military and church experiences. Althoulgh, I didn't become a priest, I have been ordained a Deacon for the Archdiocese of San Antonio. Thank you for your inspiration and motivation to succeed in life.
