Richard "Rick" VandenBerg

I just read the Spring "News From Hope College" and am so sad to read about Rick's death. As a freshman at Hope in 1968-69 I was a member of the wrestling team and Rick was our captain. He was our "Rock", a strong leader who always had time for his fellow wrestlers. I lost track of Rick after he graduated but later heard that he served as a Drill Instructor for the Army during the Vietnam years. He and several other people were a factor in my own decision to become a Marine Corps officer...

Dear Vandenberg family I am sorry to hear about your loss of a husband, Father and Grandpa being involved in the neighborhood by Zac and Lisa and.family, I got to know the Grandparents also and I want to let you all know I will be remembering you all in my prayers at this time ( Ms Laurie)
