VARGA, Richard J.- A lifelong Everett resident, passed away on August 17, 2017, at 82 years. Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth (Lembo) Varga. Loving father of Richard and Dorothy Varga of North Andover, Rose and Barry Norton of Wakefield, and Sandra and Matthew Gillis of Dedham. Cherished grandfather of Brian Varga, Kevin Varga, Matthew Norton, Kyleigh Norton, Richard Gillis, and Timothy Gillis. Loving son of the late Mildred Holmes and Stephen Varga. Loving brother of Jean Pomer and the late Wallace Varga, Stephen Varga, John Varga, Eugene Varga, Dorothy (Varga) DiSciullo, and Mildred (Varga) Bateman. He is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a funeral from the JF Ward Funeral Home, 772 Broadway, Everett, on Tuesday, August 22nd at 10 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, 487 Broadway, Everett, at 11 AM. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Monday from 4-8 PM. Services will conclude with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Richard served his country in the National Guard from 1954 to 1965. He retired from the Boston Globe after 30 years as a truck driver. He was also the last church sexton of St. Therese Church in Everett. In Richard’s memory, donations may be made to the Mystic Valley Elder Services, 300 Commercial St., #19, Malden, MA 02148.
