Dr. Richard K. Weerts

Dr. Weerts was a wonderful clarinet teacher and was always excited to share his knowledge. I have great memories of taking lessons from him and his passion for music. Over the years I've found myself quoting lines I heard from him nearly two decades ago and I am glad to have known him.

Dr. Weerts was my clarinet teacher at Truman State (then Northeast Missouri State Teachers College) in the 1960s. As a raw freshman I remember how impressed I was with his mastery of the instrument. I also remember how much fun we clarinetists had playing in his clarinet choir. I have wonderful memories of my days as a music major at NEMSTC and Dr. Weerts was a part of many of them. My condolences to his family. Rest In peace my friend.
