Richard "Papo" Weldy, 79, of Mishawaka, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, with his loving family at his bedside. Richard was born on November 16, 1929 in Winamac, IN to the late Gerald and Isabelle (Troutman) Weldy. On June 14, 1953, Richard married the former Bertha Lemberis in LaPorte, IN. Richard and Bertha shared fifty-six years of love and commitment to each other. Survivors include Richard's, wife Bertha and their four children, Rick (Peggy) Weldy of South Bend, Rebecca (Bob) Morris of Vandalia, MI, Rodney (Kelly) Weldy of Indianapolis, IN and Robbie (Jennifer) Weldy of Osceola, IN. Papo was a loving grandfather to twelve grandchildren, Nicholas (Jamie) Weldy, Sara Weldy and her fiancé Brian Lawler, Matthew Weldy, Carey (Rob) Koehler, Chris (Jonn) Shaver, Jill Morris, Amber Weldy, Stacey Kay Weldy, Travis Weldy, Tyler Weldy, Zachary Weldy and Dylan Weldy. Papo was a great-grandfather to five great grandchildren Madeline, Ayla, Aris, Ella and Elizabeth. Papo cherished, loved and enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren most of all. Richard is preceded in death by a brother Larry and a sister Elizabeth. Richard served his country in the United States Army receiving an honorable discharge. After the service Richard was a trade carpenter who belonged to the Carpenter Union Local 413 retiring after thirty-five years of service. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge of South Bend. Richard and Bertha were members of the St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 24, 2009 from 4:00 until 8:00pm with a Trisagon to be recited at 7:00pm by Father George Konstantopoulous at the Bubb Funeral Chapel 3910 N. Main St. Mishawaka. The funeral service will be held at St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church, at 11:00 am Friday, September 25th with Father Konstantopoulous officaitng. Entombment is to follow the service at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger, IN. The family requested in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Diabetes Association of St. Joseph County 711 E.
