His leadership with regard to the HHS J.R.Hawkins Scholarship Fund at Appalachain State University was outstanding, This was an extension of his leadership on the football field and on the basketball court during our high school days. Very sorry about Neal's loss. I certainly enjoyed talking with him and corresponding with him over the last 15 years. Especially after my father died, I appreciated his interest in the extended family. He never mentioned his football scholarship, though!...Phil
