Richard M. Williams, age 98, passed away Friday, July 11, 2025 at Big Meadows Nursing Center in Savanna, IL. He was born on the home farm in Mt. Carroll, IL to the late Frank and Mabel (Scholl) Williams. Richard married Delma Atz on October 14, 1946. Delma passed away April 10, 2010.
Richard was a 1944 graduate of Stockton High School. He was a member of the Plum River Masonic Lodge for 75 years, served as President on the Stockton School Board for 15 years, and was a 4-H Leader. Richard farmed his whole life. He had Australian cattle and sheep that he showed all over the country. He was the first one in the area to have a big round bailer and liked it so much he became a dealer for Vermeer. He loved golfing with his close friend, Evelyn Colehour. He also enjoyed traveling to Australia, visiting flea markets, and wintering in TX.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Nancy Bartlett; his sons, Bill (Pamela) Williams and Thomas (Jill) Williams; his 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his brother, Glenn Williams.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton at 1:30 p.m. with a visitation beginning at 11:30 a.m. Interment will take place at Ladies Union Cemetery in Stockton. A memorial fund has been established.
