Richard William Wubbels

I became a friend of Rick´s by being a classmate of his older brother John. My friends would often stop by to see if John wanted to ride bikes with us. Rick loved to be by us older kids and he wanted to be included. Later in life, my wife and I often saw Rick at Russ´ and Red Robin. Rick was a big fan of the unlimited refills of Coke at Russ´ and the unlimited fries at Red Robin. He didn´t have an easy life, but he was content with what he had. It was an honor to spend time with Rick and hear his laugh. He always had a smile and a quick sense of humor. He will be missed.

Rick connected with our church, Thornapple River Community Church, RCA, through VIS in 2018. He worshiped in person with us prior to COVID and personal illness. He took great delight in beating his pastors in a card game of UNO. His laugh was a gift. We will host a memorial service for him on Tuesday, November 19 at 3 PM. 3260 Thornapple River Drive, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.

I was a classmate of Rick's at Seymour Christian School. He was a kind and gentle soul, not a mean bone in his body. I have not seen him in all these years, but it saddens me to read of his passing. I pray we will meet again. God be with you, Rick.
