Rick and his family lived for extended periods in Daytona Beach, FL, Columbia, SC and Summerville, SC, and relocated to the Jacksonville area in 2005. He worked in the commercial banking industry for over 20 years, and was employed as a Commercial Credit Analyst/Portfolio Manager with First Horizon Group, a division of First Tennessee Bank, at the time of his death. Dear Zawada Family:

I was shocked to hear the news of Rick's passing. I was really happy to reconnect with him through Facebook and was looking forward to seeing him again at our upcoming high school class reunion. He was always a friend. The song "Crying for Me" by Toby Keith expresses my sorrow for losing such a great friend as Rick. May God richly bless and comfort you in this loss.

Cullen, Anne and Addison:

My heart goes out to you! Having been your neighbor for the past 4 years was truly a delight. You all became part of my family, especially after my mom died. I can't show my gratitude enough for the love that your family showed my girls and I. Rick's love for you will always be with you and he will look down on each of you from above. Cullen, keep your head up, the pain will slowly ease. Anne and Addison, your dad loved you very much, you carry that love with you and make him proud. I love you guys and I am here if you need anything at anytime!!!

Zawada Family:

Rick was one of my favorite colleagues in the real estate industry. We met 20+ years ago when he was with an MAI firm in Columbia, SC. I always looked forward to a chat with Rick about real estate or the banking industry. Every conversation started off with an update about our families and kids. He so loved you all and being a Dad. He was one of the real genuine guys in our industry. As shocked as I am about his death, I can't imagine how hard it is for you. Please stay in touch with me and let me know if there is anything I can do for the family. I couldn't get out of a trip to DC to make the service, but I did raise a beer to him on St Patrick's Day. Rick would always call me on St Pat's Day (my late mom was from Ireland)and ask where the pot of gold was hiding? My prayers and thoughts are with you. I have sent you my contact info via your LinkedIn site. Rick will be missed by many. You had a great person in your lives that so many of us appreciate you allowing him to be a part of ours too.
Sincerely - KC Conway, MAI, CRE

I worked with Rick at First Horizon, and he always made me feel like a friend. If you knew Rick, you liked him. Now I’m feeling a loss that joins with yours and all of Rick’s family and many friends. Our loss can only be balanced a little by remembering Rick, and how much he meant to us. I knew Rick in his role as a real estate professional. He was very good at understanding this complex business, and he was a great people person. During any conversation I had with Rick, we always got around to talking about our kids. Rick was a very proud father, and I’m sure you know him as a great dad. We miss you Rick.

Zawada Family:

I will always remember Ricky fondly. He was so sweet in high school and sounds like he was a fabulous dad and husband. My heart hurts for you all. He seemed well known in the community and had many friends, how lucky we all were to have known him.

I am sorry I am not able to make the service but my heart and thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

That face hasn't changed at all....

Zawada family: Rick and I worked together in a small two room office and grew very close. We shared a lot of jokes, laughter, fears and worry. Rick was a friend and a confidant as he helped me through some very trying serious medical issues. He constantly talked about his wife and children and how much he wanted the best for them.
The last time I heard Rick's voice was to tell me how proud he was of me and that he loved me. That's just the way he was. I will miss him greatly.

My Dear old buddy Ricky, Thanks for the best memories of my life. Sorry i did'nt know you later on in life, as adults i bet we would have had some great times. But the ones i do have ,i cherish. You were the friend i needed back at caroline brevard elelmentary when all hell was breaking out around me. The bikes, baseball, walking home, RC's and moon pies. When i could'nt depend on anyone, you were always there, making me laugh, saying don't worry, it will be ok, lets go play ball. You made a difference, i know God put you in my life to teach me about love and what a true friend really is. Thank you and Thank God. So my friend, you're loooking down at all of us and saying, like Alan Jackson's song 'Sissy's Song', ''Don't worry about me, i'm walking with Jesus, Don't worry about me'. Love You Bro, see you soon, save a place in line for me, I'll take of stuff down here, Yours always, RustyHilbert.
