Rick was a great inspiration to me when he was teaching woodshop back in the 1970s. Over the years, I would occasionally run into him, and it was always a pleasure to talk with him. He left a lasting impression on me that I've carried ever since.

Coach Ernstrom's dedication to the welfare of his swimmers extended far beyond the pool, and endured long after their graduation. A permanent memorial at the new high school pool is long overdue.
