Rickey Stokes

Rickey Stokes passed away Saturday July 16, 2016 at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born October 14, 1958 in Florala to Robert Stokes and Rosie Kimmons Stokes. Rickey worked as an electrician. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent countless hours in the lakes and ponds of south Alabama and northwest Florida fishing and camping. Rickey loved Alabama Football and it's rich traditions and enjoyed sharing that love with family and friends. He love spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He relished being their 'PaPa'. Rickey faith in Jesus Christ sustained him as he bravely fought his battle with lung cancer. He served as an example to all who knew him with his strength and courage. He fought the good fight. He kept the faith. He finished the race. He was preceded in death by father, Robert Stokes; mother, Rosie Kimmons Stokes; brothers, John and Milford Stokes.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years Sharri Stokes of Florala, daughter, Amy Ross and husband Lance of Florala, son, Daniel Stokes and wife Jackie of Lockhart, 5 grandchildren, Brandon, Serenity, Leon, Bayleigh and Ayva, brothers, Jake Stokes of Florala Joe Stokes and wife Mickie of Gautier, MS and Rockey Stokes and wife Mary of Laurel Hill, sister, Jeanette Schofield of Lockhart. He is also survived by an abundance of extended love ones including numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Rickey Stokes will be 3PM Tuesday July 19, 2016 at Evans Funeral Home with Wendell Ard officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour before services. Interment will be in the Paxton Cemetery.
