Ricky Lynn Cox the son of Arlyce and Deanna (Train) Cox was born March 14, 1961 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, NE. He joined the Kingdom of Heaven on February 7, 2011 at the Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 49 years. Ricky lived with his family in Hardy, Nebraska until approximately 1969 when they moved to Superior, Nebraska where her was a member of the 1980 graduating class at Superior High School. Ricky studied culinary arts at Central Community College in Hastings for a short time. Ricky had many passions but none were more important than his children: Brian, Christina and Derrick all reside in Hastings, NE. Ricky also had a passion for Nebraska Husker football and Christmas, but cooking took second place, only behind his children. His many cooking jobs included: the Elks Lodge in Superior, the OK Café and Olive Saloon in Hastings, NE. He also helped in the kitchen while he was a resident of Haven Home Nursing in Kenesaw, NE. Every day was Christmas for Ricky, as he always had a small Christmas tree in his room or apartment that was decorated to fit the season. He decorated his tree with cards from his friend Virginia Wolf at the Olive Saloon, amongst other ornaments and decorations. Anything he made during craft time at Haven Home was done in red and green, as those were his two favorite colors. Ricky had an extended family that included Virginia Wolf and his daily coffees group at the Olive Saloon and him many friends from Haven Home. He often rode with friend Kathy Trausch from Hastings to Kenesaw to visit his good friend, Pearla. Ricky enjoyed the many activities at Haven Home and always made newcomers feel welcome. Ricky was never long a stranger to anyone who walked in the door. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Gaylord and Gertrud Train, John and Vella Bauman, and mother Deanna Cox. Survivors include his children: Brian, Christina and Derrick all of Hastings, NE; father and step mother Arlyce and Diane Cox of Belleville, KS; sister Pam Nielsen of Superior, NE; brothers Terry Cox and Melissa of Lawrence, NE; and David Cox and wife Lori of Belleville, KS, nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends.
