Ricky DaVonte Thomas was born in St. Mary’s County, MD on October 3, 1991 to James R. Thomas, Jr. and Terri M. Cradle. He departed on December 4, 2016 at the tender age of 25.

Ricky was a lifelong resident of Lexington Park, MD where he attended St. Mary’s County Public Schools. He graduated from Great Mills High School in 2010. He loved the sport of basketball and played on the boys’ Varsity Team. He also loved to fish, often going out on the boat with Mike and DeAndre, where they could “cut up” on the water and fish into the wee hours of the morning. There were often bets of whoever caught the biggest fish or the most fish, didn’t have to be the one to clean them. Ricky always won! He was employed at America’s Best Hotel & Suites in Lexington Park, MD. Ricky loved his family, but most of all he loved his son, RJ.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, James Richard Thomas, Sr. and uncle, William Banks.

Ricky leaves to cherish his memory his father, James Richard Thomas, Jr. (Kris); mother, Terri M. Thomas (Mike); son, Ricky D. Thomas, Jr.; sisters, Rickya V. Coates (Marco), Jayla C. Thomas, Nyla T. Deluca-Thomas and step-brother, Curtis T. Taylor; his paternal grandmother, Dorothy Clark (Glenwood); maternal grandparents, Dorain and Agnes Cradle; aunts, Ann Chesley (Benson), Darlene Williams (Bernard), Doreen Talbott (Glenn); uncles, Darnell Wills, and David Thomas; God parents, Toni Blackwell and Joseph Mason; girlfriend, Chaude Leaver; two very special cousins, DeAndre Watkins and Rynica Dickerson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends will unite on Saturday, December 10, 2016 for visitation at 9:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 21340 Colton Point Rd, Avenue, MD 20609. Interment to follow at Sacred Heart Church Cemetery, Bushwood, MD.

We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to LOVE... and then we return home. For Lil Rick, the song of life has ended but, the music of the soul is forever. In the days to come and during your lonely hours, may you sometimes hear the music from above, and know that all is well.

Finally, when we meet real tragedy in life, we can react in two ways -- either by losing hope and falling into...

so sorry for your loss may god be with the family
