To the Casper Family,
I just wanted to share my sorrow in the loss of such a joyful and good natured man. Rik is a vivid memory of my young childhood in Demolay and Triangles. I was four years younger than Rik, but I have always looked up to (literally with Rik) those who made an impression, as did Rik. I have great memories of Halloween parties and Basketball games.
Hopefully Rik will meet up with my dad (Leo(Sonny)Schmidt) for some much needed laughter!
Take care &...

Kathy
I am so sorry for you and your family. Rik was a gem of a man and I am sorry that I never got to meet him in person.
There were so many times that Rik would make me chuckle, laugh, and smile with some of his e-mails.
Be gentle on yourself and please know that you and Rik will be reunited,

Kathy - I am so very sorry to hear about your husband and I am very sorry to have missed the wake - my mother just called to tell me she saw the notice in the paper. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
Your friend,

Kathy, I was so sad to hear about Rik. I always got such a kick out of him and how he could call a spade a spade (chemosucks, for instance---it always made me laugh). Somewhere I have saved a few of his posts because of something he said that only HE could say. One of a kind, he was. I wish I had had a chance to meet him, but I always valued so much his insights and honesty with the caregivers on the braintmr list. It must have been hard to be a member among us and to see other patients...

Kathy,Jan,Connie,Hank, and the rest of the Casper family,
My sincere love and friendship and support to all of you. They say true friendhip is not something that you see, but feel deep within. Rik certainly was one that brought great joy to all of us. Give Rik the stage and it was like Entertainment Tonight. Get into a discussion on past events, and it was like battling the king of Jeopardy. He was the slam dunk champion of not only basketball, but kindness, humor, humility, and...
