Darnell Family Riley was a good friend of mine, a Great Public Servant and a Good Man. I think of him often. He accomplished a lot for the state of Tennessee. One of the best things about Riley was when he told you he was going to do something, He did it. Riley was a man of his word! I hope the Family is doing well. He was so proud of all of you. I had the opportunity to be hired by Mr. Darnell, mid July ‘96, after a new system had been implemented in the UCC division. Mr. Darnell was so supportive and was a kind and considerate man to all his employees. I learned so much under his leadership. I feel very fortunate and blessed to not only have worked for our Tennessee Secretary of State but also for a man I consider to be my friend. My prayers for peace and comfort for his family!

My late husband, Comer Donnell, often sat next to Riley in Vanderbilt Law School as seating was often alphabetical. They shared political viewpoint as well. My deepest condolences to his family upon the passing of a fine man, a noble public servant.
