Rita A. (Kreczko) Abert, 81, died Thursday in Baystate Medical Center. She was born in Springfield and lived most of her life in West Springfield. She graduated from Cathedral High School Class of 1952 and worked as a legal secretary for Liberty Mutual. Rita loved the beach, drawing, reading, painting and listening to music. Her husband Harold “Ed” Abert died in 2011. She leaves two nieces Patricia Winchester of Springfield and Carol Parker and her husband Jim of East Longmeadow, a nephew Robert Dilley of Ludlow and a cousin Krystyna Olezuk. The funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 11 am in St. Thomas Church followed by burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Suffield. A calling hour will precede the Mass on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to any hurricane relief fund.
