Rita Lorraine McGowan

My remembrance of Rita has only increased my awareness of what a loss to us her passing was. I know she shines brightly still in the cosmos and will continue to inspire us. My love and condolences once again to her wonderful son and daughter and their families. She loved you so much.

Mrs. McGowan was my sophomore honors history teacher. She was an interesting teacher. She was also one of my teaching assistants for a history class at UC Davis. She was very welcoming to the students. I remember she had us to her apartment for get togethers. May your wonderful memories of your Mom help sustain you at this time.

Rita was a dear friend whose talents and intelligence were evident in all she did. She excelled in whatever she undertook but none more so than her roles as mother, grandmother, teacher, scholar and friend. She was a wonderful role model for young and old. We will miss her boundless energy in the constant fight for freedom and justice for all as well. I am so grateful Rita shared her bright light with us and know it will continue to shine in the family she so loved.
