Rita Shine passed away in Point Loma, California. The obituary was featured in San Diego Union-Tribune on September 29, 2015.
Ms Shine was my high school counselor at Poway High in the 70's. She never knew how much she helped me get through tough times. I wish I could thank her. She was the closest thing I had to a mother and I was very fortunate to have this wonderful woman in my life. I will forever be grateful and will always remember her smile.

My caregivers and I had the honor of caring for Rita for the past three years. In my life I have NEVER met a more positive person. I know she is in heaven with God and wears her wonderful smile looking down on those she loves. God Bless Rita Shine!

Rita and I worked together at Poway High during the 1970s. I can still clearly hear her wonderful laugh.
